Mellor Barns 

Mellor barns ( c1870) based in Alrewas, involved the refurbishment and demoliton of 2 derelict barns. Sited in a conservation area, the development opportunities were controlled. The glazed gable ends and high insulation specification have created a light and warm dwelling. Sustainable methods including locally sourced materials, solar panels, wood burning stove and high spec glazed units have helped achieve an energy efficiency rating of B.

Bagnall's Lock 

Bagnall's lock is listed in the Conservation area plan as making a positive historical contribution. The development , adjacent the Lock, includes the refurbishment and change of use of a public house to apartments, refurbishment of a derelict barn to 2 new apartments and provision of 2 new build dwellings. Sited in the conservation area and adjacent a structure of special interest, sensitive consideration of design was required.

Timber Framed Cottage

A timber framed cottage, dating in part back to the 16th century has been refurbished and extended. This includes compliance with building regulations (Part L- thermal efficiency) but also to incorporate breathability through the build up, whilst maintaining a waterproof envelope. Necessary where lime mortar construction is applied, and where a traditional cavity wall construction meets traditional solid walls.
